Gol & Gincu, Year 2 Premier

I’ve been a fan of this series since the first time I happened to catch an episodes where various issues of Malaysian society served to your face with more than real portrayal in our everyday life.

Gol & Gincu Cast
Razif Hashim, Sazzy Falak, Ashraf Sinclair, Nur Fazura

Second year of Gol & Gincu continues where the last season left off with Ayu on the edge of her wrecking psychotic problem – constant evil plan to harm Putri (Nur Fazura) in her bid to regain Reza’s (Andre Pierre) love. Who in the sane mind would have think of the idea to get your boyfriend back by splashing acid on someone he’s in love with? I gotto raise my hat for Mazlina Hassan who plays Ayu – she is so convincing that I wished I could just step in the scene, slap her with my sandals and bring her back to reality! How could one be so insane over love matters? Started out as the “Kampung” girl she is and by the end of Season 1, she has turned into an inane bimbo (trying to be in pink – just like Putri) seeking nothing but revenge and winning. Her character are one that we can really learn from. Never believe what you see in front of you. She can be real nice with you (in the beginning) but devious plan are mapped in her mind to get you when the time is right. It simply spells cruel reality of life.

The premier episodes also deals around with how tabloids can mislead the public into believing something that has never happened at all. Simply because the reporter himself is as evil as Ayu, accusation are made into headline in order to push the publication sales. How true is that in reality? I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure it does happen. They just do not care about the impact of such news has on people life, particularly those that are directly effected; in this case Putri’s Mom – to the point that she has to avoid her Datin friends and moving house.

Gol & Gincu Cast
Pierre Andre, Melissa Maureen, Rafidah Abdullah

It was also fun to see J (Fasha Rahman) who just got her Diploma and entering the working world where she started her job that requires her cover her Aurat (wearing head scarf and long dresses that covers a woman body without exposing her flesh except for her palm and face). She’s the kind of girl that wears shorts and T-Shirt, never once she were in dresses. So it was kind of awkward and funny.

The Gol & Gincu team also do play with some extremely kinky idea of long distance relationship, at least in my opinion. Departure of Haikal (Razif Hashim – the one in 8TV Quickie) back to Jakarta, Indonesia in last season leaves behind Sasha (Sazzy Falak) alone and looked dazed most of the time without the existence of her “babe” that keeps her busy with his slapstick joke and silly remarks. I particularly loved the scene where each of them were in their room, thinking of each other while looking at the red high heels (each of them has a side of the heel) that Haikal slipped into and walked around the heels in college for a whole day in his stunt to win over Sasha heart. It definitely worked and he’s driving Sasha missing him crazy enough to chart her visits to Jakarta in the coming episode.

Gol & Gincu

We’re promised more interesting issues and definitely gets to see what Ayu has in mind for her mismatched couple – Reza and Putri. Stay tune and get yourself seated in front of your tele this coming Sunday, 10pm for Episode 2 of Gol & Gincu.

Uncommon magic at 08:15 hour: Hooked on local drama series, one in many years that I deemed worth to watch.
